In order to get rid of belly fat, it’s important to understand the underlying causes. There are certain fat-inducing foods that we consume unknowingly on a day-to-day basis. Awareness of them will make you more conscious of what you eat, which will affect your belly fat. Dr. Jewel Gamadia, celebrity nutritionist, shares 6 diet tips you can follow to get rid of your belly fat.

  • Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup - You can find foods such as snacks, sauces, certain frozen food and cereal in the ingredient label. Stay away from foods with high fructose corn syrup as it causes you to gain weight and stresses your internal tract

  • Avoid Trans Fat - Your body has a hard time breaking down trans fat and it can also stress your liver. It’s found that high quantities of trans fat are commonly found in obese people. You can look for trans fat in the ingredient labels of biscuits, popcorn, fried foods and frozen foods. If you see trans fat in the ingredients label of what you are consuming, stop eating that food

  • Take ProBiotics - If your body is storing fat around your stomach, somewhere your gut health has taken a hit and you are low on healthy intestinal bacteria. Start taking a probiotic

  • Cinnamon and Turmeric Powder - Start your day by drinking hot water mixed with 1 teaspoon of turmeric and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. This concoction will help your intestinal tract to function better

  • Eat Garlic - Your diet should always have 4-5 cloves of garlic daily to help mobilise the fat from the stomach to the liver. Avoid eating overly cooked garlic to maximise the effects

  • Consume Calcium - Post lunch, take one tablet of calcium citrate (400 mg) as it helps your body move and metabolise, as calcium levels are extremely important in doing so

Lastly, while you are following these diet tips, please check your vitamin D3 levels and if you are low on it, start the supplement for the same. Vitamin D3 is extremely important in reducing fat from your belly. Also, take out sugars from your diet and have less bread.

Key Takeaway

While you are following these expert diet tips, remember they will be twice as effective if you are engaging in daily exercise. If belly fat is your primary concern, target the abdominal muscles. They are also extremely important in holding your intestinal tract. Crossover crunches are a popular exercise which can make your intestinal muscles stronger. You can do 2-3 sets a day of these crunches. Also, do not overlook 30 minutes of physical activity daily. It could be a walk, cycling, or any other fitness regime.
